An evening of Folk music and poetry readings with folk musicians Harbottle & Jonas and poet Jane Newberry.

Dave and Freya have developed a distinct and compelling signature sound, blending concertina, harmonium, banjo, stomp box, acoustic guitar and cittern with their beautiful and closely intertwined vocal harmonies."

Local poet, Jane Newberry, needs little introduction. Hoyden’s Trove (Wheelsong Books) was her debut collection and she is widely published in magazines and on the internet. Come and hear Jane reading her quirky poems old and new. Jane is also well known for her children's writing - her rhyme book “Big Green Crocodile” was shortlisted for a CLIPPA award in 2021. Her latest book of play-rhymes Big Red Dragon was published in August 2024, by Otter-Barry Books.

There will be a licensed bar, soft drinks and snacks.
Tickets cost £14.76 and are available on Eventbrite. Please book via Eventbrite if you can. This will help give us an idea of numbers.

Welcome to the parish church of South Hill: St Sampson, in the Diocese of Truro and county of Cornwall, England.

Our Vision is that St Sampson’s will be an accessible Christian presence in the community, drawing people in by its beauty, enfolding them with the warmth of its welcome and enabling them to experience the grace of Jesus Christ, the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit.

We meet in our beautiful small medieval church, St Sampson's, and services are held every Sunday.  Do come and join us.

If you are concerned about Covid or other infections

Hand sanitizer is available when entering. Feel free to wear a mask if you wish. Some of our congregation continue to do so. There are chairs at the back of the church which are set aside for those who prefer to be socially distanced during services, or the South aisle is less crowded.
