Opening

The church is open most days during daylight hours. A hospitality tray is available.

Getting here

The church is at the western end of the village opposite the CofE School in Downderry. Downderry is on the south coast near Seaton.

Parking is on street during the week with the school car park available on a Sunday.

When you've visited the church, take the path down the side of the school to the beach and then treat yourself to lunch, perhaps an ice cream, or a souvenir from the shops and restaurants in the village.

Welcome to the Local Mission Church of Downderry: St Nicholas in the Anglican Diocese of Truro and county of Cornwall England.

The church began life as a mission church planted by Hessenford Parish Church since population was growing significantly at Downderry but not at Hessenford.  The present small but substantial building dates from 1905. It is situated within a stone’s throw off the beach. In 2001 a new wing with kitchen and toilets was added. It is truly a multi-purpose building. The kitchen was renewed in 2018. The vestry is also the Office for the Civil Parish at the heart of the community..... St Nicolas Church Primary School is directly opposite.  The school has around 100 pupils. The church enjoys leading the Wednesday afternoon School assemblies, and the ‘Open the Book’ team now go in to the school on a regular basis.
