The Gaywood Allotment Trust is a small charitable organisation which has been offering financial assistance to the people in the ecclesiastical parish of Gaywood for 90 years.
Today the Trust is still run by a board of trustees committed to serving local people in need. Working together with local schools, Family Nurse Practitioners and other agencies they seek to provide grassroots financial support, given by local people, delivered directly to local lives.
In September, at a social gathering at St. Faith’s Community Hub in Gaywood, members of the current board said a thankful goodbye to two long serving trustees, Margaret Wilkinson and Sheila Young. After years of dedicated service, Margaret and Sheila have retired paving the way for new trustees to build on their legacy.
People needing assistance can apply directly to the Rector at St. Faith’s Church Gaywood LEP using a simple application form, endorsed by a professional. Big problems start with human moments. As a local organisation, the Gaywood Allotment Trust is able to step in with small, timely financial support before a temporary setback becomes a permanent crisis.
After a recent recruitment drive, three new trustees have joined the board, securing the Trust’s future. The Trust’s aim continues to be to provide quiet, non-judgmental financial assistance that helps local families regain their footing and preserve their dignity.
Revd Kyla Sørensen, Rector of St. Faith's and Chair of Trustees said: "We give people the breathing room they need to solve immediate pressures and plan for tomorrow."
