We are delighted to announce that the Shine the Light stained glass restoration project at St Bartholomew's Church, Arkendale has now been completed.
Thanks to the generous support of the Diocese of Leeds, the Sir John Priestman Trust, and private donors, we have successfully completed the Priority 1 and Priority 2 works identified in the conservation report.
The works were carried out by the highly skilled team at Barley Studios of York, specialists in the conservation and restoration of historic stained glass.
As part of the project, four nave windows have been repaired, cleaned, restored or conserved, and weatherproofed. The restoration has also returned the ventilation openings to full working order, allowing fresh air to circulate through the building once again and helping the church to breathe naturally as intended.
These vital works have preserved some of our most treasured features and will help safeguard the church's stained glass heritage for generations to come. We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who supported the project and helped ensure that these beautiful windows can continue to shine their light for many years ahead. ✨
