We're gathering to worship on Sunday 19 May at 10.30am in an All Age Celebration of the birthday of the church. Pentecost is the day when the Holy Spirit descended on the Apostles - fifty days after the resurrection of Jesus (Easter) and ten days after his Ascension to heaven. After Easter is ranks as the second greatest festival in the Church - yes, even more important than Christmas!

After the service this year we will be staying together for a time of friendship, fellowship and fun as we eat an International Meal. Folk from church are preparing various meals which they will bring before the service. Please do feel free to come (it's free) even if you can't prepare any food - open to all!

We will worship at 10.30am and aim to eat at 12.30pm.

Welcome to St Philip's Church, Osmondthorpe, East Leeds

Welcome to St Philip's!

We'd love you to join our church!

We are a church worshipping God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  We believe God the Father sent Jesus to live, die and rise again for us. Jesus came to bring fullness of life. When he ascended to the Father's right hand, he sent the Holy Spirit to help us follow him and equip us for mission.  The Holy Spirit enables us to pray, worship, serve and love both God and our neighbour. We gather on Sundays to worship God, offering our prayers to the Father in the name of Jesus and in the power of the Spirit.  The joy of the Lord is our strength: strength for mission and worship!

St Philip’s services are marked by the following:

Worship has Anglican roots, is liturgically-shaped, lectionary-focused, and seasonally-informed.

In our church services we focus on Word (preaching) and Sacrament (Holy Communion)

We want to encounter God through music: joyful and lively, we sing lots, drawing on a wide repertoire from diverse eras and styles

Out time together is usually informal and 'real': we want people to feel comfortable and able to connect with God and others. While Anglican, we do not robe.

Welcoming newcomers is important to us, with an emphasis on fellowship and family during and after services, we want people to belong

As a community of Christians, we are committed to three priorities: worship - making Sundays unmissable with Jesus at the centre, refreshing our rhythms of Anglican worship; growth - evangelising and inviting people to church, calling people to follow Jesus, growing as Christians, while increasing our profile and service across the community; and children and young people - serving those in our church, in our schools, and in our community. We say that worship is the core, growth is the goal and children are our focus. And Jesus gets the honour!

Into 2026, you are invited to come and see what God is doing in LS9!
