Saturday 24th June was the day of our garden party. It was hot (28 degrees Celsius) and sunny. Ice cream was much in demand at the ice cream and cake stall. The refreshment team in the Café in the Church, provided a cool and welcome break for a cuppa, more cakes and a chat. On the Caribbean food stall,  West Indian food was sold, including delicious fried chicken and salt fish cakes while groceries were sold on the Mothers’ Union stall. A range of books on the Book stall were on offer. Other interesting stalls were the Bric a brac and the Craft stalls, with handmade items including cards and lavender bags. Volunteers kept busy on the colourful Plant stall and on the Bits & Bobs stall, where helpers sold more flower and plant sundries including plant pots and watering cans. Bottles and toiletries on the Tombola stalls. The local Brownies group also had a stall to promote their organisation, to encourage children to join and to encourage adults to come and help run their meetings. Prizes of the popular raffle included a basket of fruit and a supermarket token. In spite of the heat, a few energetic souls couldn’t resist dancing to the beat of the music provided.
