FRIENDS OF SWILLINGTON CHURCH

Who are “Friends of Swillington Church” and why?

I am sure if most of you agree our church is a really special place in the village, it holds special memories for a lot of the Swillington residents and other neighbouring communities.

We became aware at the back end of 2023 that the church is in desperate need of support from our wonderful community. The church monthly running costs are significant and the church also require a number of building works that will cost a substantial amount.

This is the time for our little village and surrounding areas to pull together as without funding there is a risk that in a few years the church will have to close their doors for good if they don’t get the support. After hearing this a group of volunteers came together. We held meetings with Swillington Miners Welfare Club and St. Mary's Church - Swillington to agree ways forward that we can help regularly raise funds as well as awareness.

Throughout 2024 we will be hosting a couple of events whilst we find our feet. We really hope that with the support of the local community each year we can go bigger and better! If anyone would like any further information or would like to offer any assistance, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
