Music for Good Friday: St John Passion | JS Bach

Occuring
for 2 hours, 30 mins
Venue
Leeds Minster (St Peter at Leeds)
Address
2-6 Kirkgate Leeds, LS2 7DJ, United Kingdom

Join St Peter’s Singers of Leeds on Good Friday 29 March for a performance of Bach’s timeless setting of the St John Passion. Tickets available now!
First performed 300 years ago on Good Friday 1723, the work retells St John’s account of the events leading up to Christ’s death, and it remains a masterpiece, performed thousands of times each year all over the world. It’s an exciting, piece, at times highly dramatic and emotional, while soothing, reflective, grief-stricken at others.
We’re delighted to be joined by the National Festival Orchestra, as well as soloists Toby Ward as Evangelist and Phil Wilcox as Christus for this performance. This is set to be a highlight of our 2024 season, and not one to be missed!
