North Walsham: St Nicholas
St Nicholas' Church, Norfolks' Largest Wool Church.
Seeking to weave faith, hope and love throughout our community.
Welcome to St Nicholas’ Church in the heart of North Walsham. For centuries people have worshipped on this site. They have come for joyful and sad times, for baptisms (christenings), weddings and funerals. They have come for the major festivals of the church at Easter and Christmas. They have silently slipped in and prayed silently and slipped out again during the course of a day. They have gathered Sunday by Sunday to celebrate the resurrection and the good news of Jesus Christ. And we continue to do so today.
However, as the Coronavirus pandemic continues and Norfolk moves into Tier 4 restrictions, public worship and private prayer within the church has been suspended. We are very mindful of the need to balance the spiritual and emotional needs that we have always tried to meet at St Nicholas with the vital importance of keeping everyone safe.
The Church is therefore currently closed for individual private prayer.
We are currently live-streaming Morning Prayer (Monday-Saturday) at 9.00am, and said Sunday Morning Prayer at 10.30pm, with no congregation present. Please join us from home at https://www.facebook.com/stnicksnorthwalsham/. Orders of service are available under each service on the 'Services and Events' tab, and clicking on the 'More about this event' button will take you directly to our FaceBook page.
Our church office phone (01692 408971) is checked daily, so please do leave a message if you need to speak to someone.
FUNERALS CAN STILL TAKE PLACE IN THE CHURCH BUT NUMBERS ARE LIMITED TO 30. Please contact the church office (01692 408971) for further information.
We are updating our website on a daily basis with on going news and ways to keep in touch. Please be assured of our prayers.
