Restoring and improving St. Michael's
We're currently working on a scheme to update and protect our lovely grade two parish church. We want to make St. Michael's safer and more accessible to everyone and keep it in good condition for the next generation. This page will give you more information about the project below.
You can help by donating directly to our Reordering fund by donating out church bank account :Parochial Church Council of Brinsley with Underwood Church; sort code: 20-25-85; Account no: 70694851. Please reference St. Michael's Reordering. If you can give more than £30 are a taxpayer please email [email protected] for a gift aid form. If you just wish to support our ongoing work to keep our two historic churches open for worship and as Places of Welcome we'd be very grateful for this too.
Perhaps you can't donate right now but have skills in grant application or local history or media and would like to join a small steering group to help us raise funds. Please email [email protected] or [email protected] or call 07554664831
The challenge facing us: St.Michael's is only accessible via 3 steps or a temporary wooden ramp which is too steep for many to use easily. Our toilets are up an additional step which have been the cause of some nasty accidents. Our "kitchen" is a simple scullery with limited facilities, typically hot water for simple drinks is produced with an urn on a trestle table. Our lighting includes some high powered bulbs which can scorch the beams and present fire hazard. Our new scheme will remove steps to the main body of the church, produce a functional servery in the church create and a more flexible space for community use.
