Sunday 28th April 2024

The gospel reading this week focuses on the seventh, and last, ‘I am’ sayings of Jesus - I am the true vine and you are the branches. Jesus is speaking to those who have already come to him and his message to them is to stay close to him, stay connected to him and commit themselves to him for the long term, to grow and become fruitful Christians. In his sermon Richard will explain that the key to being more fruitful is to remain in the vine and let the Holy Spirit work in us with our focus on Jesus as our perfect example. God the Father, the gardener, may have to do some pruning in our lives but in the end it is through God’s grace and strength that we will stay connected to Christ allowing us to become more fruitful and draw others to the true vine - Jesus Christ.
