The Rural Dean of Eccleshall

I am sad that I was not asked to be Acting Rural Dean and oversee the initial work of the strategic framework in the Eccleshall deanery and a possible merger with other deaneries. I think I could have made an important contribution here. No one likes to be overlooked, do they? But I was not overlooked, I was blocked and that is something very different. The post of Rural Dean is not a major responsibility like an Archdeacon or Bishop’s job, so why was I not allowed to take on this role? When I have retired, I am sure the issue will be resolved with the appointment of a preferred candidate. So do I care – well yes, I do and that is why I am bringing my concerns to your attention.
