Accessible and Inclusive

Accessible

Our church has a ramp for wheelchair access, we have a hearing loop system for those using hearing aids and we offer large print hymn books and service sheets. If there are other ways that we can make our church or services accessible for you, please do let us know.

Inclusive

Here in this Benefice we believe that church is a place where all people should feel valued, accepted and included and so we were delighted when earlier this year General Synod, the Governing Body of the Church of England, made the decision to allow a church blessing for same-sex couples after a civil marriage or civil partnership.

Whilst there is no change to the Church of England’s doctrine of Holy Matrimony, meaning that we are not able to conduct a marriage service, this decision means that same sex couples can have a special service to give thanks, dedicate their relationship to God and receive God’s blessing on their life together.

This will be able to happen once a set of liturgy, which is in the process of being prepared for this purpose, becomes available early in 2024. In the meantime, please do come and talk to us about the possibility of a blessing on your relationship as we extend God’s welcome to all people.
