It’s coming up to the start of the Advent season on 30th November, when we start to look ahead to Christmas and opening the daily boxes on Advent Calendars. Here is a message from Rev Delphine and an activity to do at home until we meet again at a Messy Church session(see below for a reminder about the Christingle at St James, Acton Trussell on 24th Dec at 2pm)Rev Delphine’s Message “Christmas is coming the goose is getting fat, Please put a penny in the old man’s hat. If you haven’t got a penny a half penny will do, if you haven’t got a half penny then God Bless You!”So goes the old rhyme, and it talks about giving a gift, a very small gift in the case of half a penny, but Christmas is not about the size of your gift. Eleanor has found some lovely gifts of kindness you can give each day in Advent, the season leading up to Christmas and the greatest gift of all God’s gift to us, His son , Jesus. These wee gifts show people you care - Hugging someone; smiling at everybody you meet. Things like that can make a huge difference to someone’s day, The gift of Jesus meant that we could be brought closer to God, and through Him God could show us how much He loves us. We can make a difference to someone’s day with those small kindnesses during Advent. But accepting God’s gift of Jesus, and following His ways can make a difference to our lives!Random Acts of Kindness Advent CalendarThis is a different type of Advent Calendar that has the usual 24 daily boxes but instead of chocolates each day it has a small act of kindness for you to do. You can print off the black and white version, preferably onto card, and colour it in or use the ready coloured one (thanks to Baker Ross for this idea). Hope you enjoy giving these acts of kindness.
