Village Produce and Garden Guild

Stowe Village Produce Guild – Garden Guild

The Guild is in good heart with 34 members last year and a good financial state. At our AGM two long serving committee members stood down, any member willing to join the committee please contact Shane Phillips. The meeting was privileged to hear a talk from Tim Moss entitled “Smithfield” outside the City wall in London, once called Smoothfield. Tim showed pictures of the cattle, sheep, pigs and rabbits and all the ancillary trades at Smithfield which later moved to Copenhagen Fields at Kings Cross. His talk encompassed the history of the City right up to the present day. Our March meeting talk was a laugh from start to finish with Elaine & Julia The Potty Plotters. We were given pencil and crossword grid where the answers were by example 'tights' 'colander' 'sock', never throw anything away! Tights are ideal for winter storage of pots, a hanging colander will contain a couple of lettuce - snails don't abseil and a sock is perfect to protect an emerging sweetcorn cob. All this information was presented with hilarity. Next meeting 7.30pm Wednesday April 15th “A Garden for all Seasons” with Diane Clement

We meet at 7-30pm every third Wednesday of the month with guest speakers, competitions, refreshments and a sales table.

Visitors are always welcome.
