Stowe Village Produce Guild – Garden Guild

Sadly, the speaker for July’s meeting did not arrive, however members made the most of the evening by enjoying the VPG Summer Show, with some beautiful entries across the categories. Congratulations to Russell Heath who won with his entries to the “sweetpea” and “herb and salad” categories, and gained joint 1st place with his wife Sarah for their roses. Sarah was also awarded 1st place for her entry to the “flower arrangement” category. 

Members brought their entries for the annual Plug Plant competition- back in May, members had been given a small “Red Robin” tomato plant with the challenge of nurturing it ready for judging in this month’s meeting. We had a great time comparing growing methods that the entrants had employed. In the end, Cathy Robinson was awarded 1st place, followed by David Bloor and Wendy Sargeant. 

There is no meeting in August, so our next meeting will be on 16th September, with the return of Justin Harrison giving a talk on “Autumn Splendour”

We meet at 7-30pm every third Wednesday of the month with guest speakers, competitions, refreshments and a sales table.

Visitors are always welcome.
