The May breakfast service was held in the church as the guide hall was unavailable.

It was very enjoyable and I think the children found it more connected to the church. Since the last Sunday club meeting in April we had cultivated an “insect habitat” for butterflies and by a very happy coincidence the butterflies were ready for release at the service. We had five butterflies Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and Elvis! The children walked around the churchyard to select the best place to release them. It presented a fabulous opportunity to discuss ascension, re-birth and new life. We then had a discussion on the life cycle of butterflies followed by a quiz. Of course, Sunday club wouldn’t be Sunday club without the obligatory cake decorating, so we designed and decorated a cake in the shape of a butterfly!
