The fizz was flowing and the cakes were piled high at a fantastically successful ‘Afternoon Tea with Prosecco’ event held in Whixall Social Centre on 18th May 2019. The ‘Tea’ was a sell-out, with over a hundred people coming together. The event was planned to raise funds for St Mary’s Church, in Whixall, and was organised by the PCC and the community. Forty cake stands were needed to hold the mounds of sandwiches, scones and cake, and tables were beautifully decorated with vintage crockery, garden flowers and embroidered tablecloths. The vintage feel was added to with live music from the 1920s and 30s. The Prosecco Bar was a hive of activity and was generously sponsored by a local business, Miles Macadam.
