On 7th August 2022, Rev. Nigel Clemas retired after 24 years serving our three parishes. The parishes of Whitmore, Maer and Chapel Chorlton wish him all the best in his retirement. The three churches entered a period of interregnum until our new incumbent - Revd. Peter Jones - was appointed on Thursday 13th June 2024. Please send any enquiries to Peter at [email protected].

St. Laurence Anglican Church, Chapel Chorlton, is a Grade II listed village church, just off the A51 at Stableford. It is part of the benefice of Chapel Chorlton, Maer and Whitmore. As of April 2024 we have a vacancy for the position of church warden. To find out more about the history, archaeology, and architecture of this Grade II listed church, go to the Church of England’s online heritage database; the Church Heritage Record.

Our church is generally open during daylight hours but if you want to be sure of access then contact one of the Church Wardens.

If you are interested in being married in St Laurence Church, then do contact Revd. Peter Jones at [email protected].

Every other Sunday at 9.30am we have a Holy Communion service with hymns and songs of an hour long, with a children's corner. Around 20 - 25 attending. On alternate Sundays there is a 9.30am Communion service at the sister church of Maer, a mile away. There are soft toys and colouring sheets in the children's corner, and refreshments are served after each 9.30am service. We have a wheelchair available for use, and are using a music player to accompany our singing since the loss of our much loved and much missed organist, John Parkinson.

The weekly noticesheet is available at the back of church which contains details of services and local events.

Our safeguarding officer is Wendy Kinson, 01782 680613.
