The setting of the church is beautiful and peaceful. It is in a broad area of churchyard entered via a lych gate which houses the war memorial. It has a graceful oak shingle steeple and is uncluttered by any surrounding buildings. The roof consists of large heavy slabs of the local Horsham stone.
There is evidence of a church at Nuthurst in the 12th century. By 1207 a parish had been created, which was later transferred to the Bishop of London who remains the Patron,
The church was listed Grade II in 1959.
