Come and join St John the Evangelist, Preston, Brighton for A Solstice Celebration on Wednesday 10 December 6.00PM - 7.30PM

Come and share the seasonal warmth of fire and friendship in the new Community Garden of St John the Evangelist, entrances in Knoyle Road and Preston Road.

This family-friendly event will include a short play, "As the Year Turns" an age-old Solstice story. It's the Holly King's bid to keep the world in Winter darkness and prevent the coming of the Light. Spoiler alert - he doesn't succeed!

This will be followed by mince pies, mulled wine, or hot chocolate, with carol singing around the fire as we welcome, together, the coming of the Light - marking in our own way the Christian message of light overcoming darkness.

Wrap up warm and bring your own lantern!

St John the Evangelist

Welcome to the Parish Church of St John the Evangelist, Preston, Brighton, a lively Anglican church in the suburbs of north Brighton. St John's is a welcoming, friendly, creative and outward-looking church, in a central/catholic tradition and is affiliated to the Inclusive Church network.

The church community is committed to fostering spiritual and numerical growth and to engaging more effectively with our local community.

There's a Eucharist with hymns at St John's every Sunday at 10am followed by refreshments, as well as a mid-week Eucharist on Wednesday mornings at 10am followed by Preston Coffee Pot, a community cafe.
