A churches together service for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2026
We celebrate the Feast of Candlemas (2nd Feb).
This is when we mark the Presentation of Christ in the Temple.
During this service we have a special candlelight procession from the Crib at the front of the church to the Font at the back of church. It officially marks the end of Christmas and Epiphany season and we look towards Lent and Easter.
This day marks the end of the Christmas season and afterwards we clear the church of all Christmas decorations.
We prepare ourselves for Lent with the Ash Wednesday Liturgy and ashing on the forehead (optional).

Mothering Sunday Service - We remember with gratitude those who have played a nurturing and caring role in our lives.
There will be giving of posies to all who mother us.
This Sunday is also called Refreshment Sunday, a halfway point in the season of Lent and, historically, a temporary reprieve from fasting - a time for refreshment and celebration of all life.
All ages welcome.
Palm Sunday Procession to recall and celebrate Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem riding a young donkey.
We shout with joy, "Hosanna! Blessed is he the King who comes in the name of the Lord!" and wave our palm crosses.
Our joy turns to sorrow as we turn towards the shadows of Holy Week as we listen to the Passion Gospel reading.
All ages welcome.
Maundy Thursday Holy Communion Service
We gather to celebrate the Institution of Holy Communion as we recall the events of The Last Supper and Jesus' final commandment (mandate - maundy) of love for one another. We come together in love and share together the bread and the wine, as Jesus instructed us to 'do this in remembrance of me'.
The service includes the priest washing the feet of some of the congregation to recall what Jesus did at the Last Supper.
Towards the end of the service we recall the shadows of that event and the altar communion table is stripped and we are invited to 'Watch and Pray' with Jesus, as he did in the Garden of Gethsemane. The Watch will conclude at 9pm.
We depart the church in silence.
On Good Friday we remember Jesus' death on the Cross.

Christians across the village join together at Our Lady of England RC Church and walk to Trinity Methodist Church.
12 Noon Good Friday Devotions
A time for words, music and messages of silent prayer
Silence is kept - please ensure you enter/exit the church building quietly.
At 1.30pm Liturgy of The Cross
All are welcome to enter this deeply moving opportunity to encounter Christ in the veneration of the cross and receive Holy Communion of the Reserved Sacrament. With hymns and readings.
We depart the church building in silence.
We join together to celebrate this glorious Day of Resurrection, proclaiming together that we are an Easter People. We recall Mary Magdalene as she finds the empty tomb and announces the news of the risen Lord to the apostles.
All are welcome to join the celebration!
Refreshments served afterwards, including chocolate treats.

40 days after Easter, we join together to commemorate Jesus Christ's ascension into heaven.
Incense is used at this service.
We celebrate the Day of Pentecost - the coming of the Holy Spirit and the birthday of the church, as written in the Bible in the Book of Acts, Chapter 2. It is a special day for the Church - it's the birthday of the Church.
Towards the end of our worship, after we have shared Holy Communion, candles are lighted from the Paschal Candle and we pray to be renewed by the power of Holy Spirit to go into the community and serve. Come, Holy Spirit, we pray.
