About Us

St Mary’s is a typical village church built about 1000 years ago and updated over the centuries.  It has a short shingled spire, typical of many Sussex churches which contains 6 bells.

The church membership crosses all the age groups and this is reflected in the worship services which include both traditional and contemporary.  The main Sunday Service, at 10.30 is an all age service with an informal style, followed by coffee.  A Sunday School is a part of this service.

Our strap line is "Loving God, Loving Community".

There are regular weekly meetings for Bible Study in home groups, a weekly morning "Parish Prayers" at 8:30 each Tuesday, a monthly breakfast prayer meeting, an active Mother’s Union group and also a group for younger women (RAFT).  Young people meet on Fridays most weeks and the church runs a “Coffee Stop” in the Sports Pavilion each Friday morning, providing a friendly meeting place for all.  A group of retired folk meet each Tuesday to help maintain the churchyard which is a haven of peace on the edge of the village.  Each week a group of bellringers practice on Thursdays and ring the bells prior to the Sunday evening service.

We have a brand new church website and it can be found at www.stmaryswalberton.org.uk
