Getting here

St John’s is a friendly church which holds a significant place within this village community. We work to make sure everyone who comes to our services is made very welcome.

This impressive Victorian church was built in 1878. It is a local landmark and can be seen for many miles in all directions, acting as a focus for the whole village. It is very popular for weddings and baptisms

There are a variety of services held each month:

8.00am Prayerbook communion (All Sundays except the 2nd Sunday).

9.30  Parish Communion with a sung Eucharist. (2nd, 3rd 4th Sundays of the month)

9.30am Family Service on the first Sunday of the month. Contemporary worship and family friendly.

Refreshments are served after the main service,

St John’s is the largest church of three churches in the parish (see links to the other two on the right of this page.) The current rector is Rev’d Olwen Woolcock, you can contact Olwen on the ‘contact us’ tab.

Church activities include:

Church Lads and Church Girls Brigade - a uniformed organisation for all ages between 4 and 18 years.

Church choir which practice after the service on Sunday morning

Bellringers which meet on Fridays at 8.00pm

Mothers Union  First Tuesday at 2.00pm in the community centre.

A Capella singing group on Wednesdays at 7.30pm

Open the Book team which takes Bible Stories into our local primary schools.

The church has good links with Hugglescote Community Primary School, with the Rector taking some assemblies, and the children coming into St John’s for special services.
