Ride + Stride is the annual event organised by Leicestershire Historic Churches Trust which in 2026 will be happening on Saturday 12 September. Churches across Leicestershire will be ensuring there's a warm welcome for visitors who will be attempting to ramble and ride to multiple churches in one day. In most churches you'll meet a welcomer, some will offer refreshments and of course toilet facilities!

Riders & Striders are encouraged to be sponsored to help raise funds for Leicestershire Historic Churches Trust which is a wonderful charity who have kindly supported St Peter's Church with grants to help us maintain the building.

Why not sign up and enjoy a wonderful day exploring the beautiful churches we have on our doorstep, raise some funds and your heart rate as you ride or stride through our countryside.

From St Peter's Church in Witherley we can recommend a lovely 3 mile ramble to visit our friends at St Michael's Church in Fenny Drayton using public footpaths, and then return back the same way, or make it a circular route to Atterton and back via Atterton Lane.

Following the success of our first Alpha course in 2025, we will be again running Alpha over six weeks and we are very grateful that the course will be led by Amanda and Paul Cowley.

Meeting in the Parish Room every Wednesday from 7pm, each week Alpha starts with time to come together and share a meal provided by the Alpha volunteers followed by a focus on a specific theme brought to life with thought provoking videos and then time to reflect and discuss as a group. There's no charge and no pressure, so we welcome all that just want to find out a little bit more to join us.

If you'd like to find out more just get in touch with Paul and Amanda Cowley or any of the members of St Peter's Church volunteer PCC team who took part in Alpha last year (Jan, Gaynor, Rachel, Katherine, Kate Chorley, Kate Salmon)
