NEXT POP-UP CAFÉ - Saturday 5th September at Saint Stephen's, Tockholes. This is also the village Scarecrow Festival so the café will be very busy. Therefore it will be set up as a self-service, take away. There will be seating but no table service. There will still be sandwiches, cakes and hot and cold food. So please pop up to Tockholes next month, enjoy the scarecrows and call in for your lunch. Also, we could do with some more help on this day.Please speak to the Churchwardens if you would like to help out.

CONFIRMATION - Bishop Philip will be with us to confirm our candidates on Sunday 6th September at the 10.30am service in Saint Cuthbert's church. If you wish to be considered for Confirmation please fill in a form, which are on the table by the door, and return it to Father Nicholas.

ALL FOR JESUS! - Blackburn Diocese came into being on November 12th 1926 so we are celebrating the centenary this year. All parishes are encouraged to hold events over the weekend of 11th to 13th September. So, we are holding a quiz night on Friday 11th September in Saint Cuthbert's church, £5 entry which includes a small buffet. On Saturday 12th we will hold an afternoon tea from 2pm until 4pm. This is a free event. Please invite your family and friends to join us. On Sunday 13th after the 10.30am service we will have a short procession around the streets and then return to church for soup and sandwiches. This is also free and again please invite your family and friends.

Please keep the diocese and all its parishes in your prayers.

ALL FOR JESUS - HELP NEEDED with the Afternoon tea - Please pray for opportunities to invite friends and neighbours and come yourself! If you can let us know in advance who’s coming, that would be really helpful food wise. Sign up sheets will be in the side aisle. Gifts for raffle prizes would be great- please leave on side table or in vestry. If you have any large white tablecloths or pretty smaller ones or china tea sets (cups, saucers, side plates, sandwich plates, sugar bowls and jugs) that we could borrow for the day- or if you could make or bake something- or if you fancy being a waiter/waitress for a couple of hours- or if you could help set up or clear up after, please see/contact Angela S.

MOTHERS’ UNION - will meet again on TUESDAY, SEPT. 15th for a “bit of a do”. This consists of a service at 12 pm, followed by lunch of meat and potato or cheese and onion pie, desert and a drink for £7.50 pp. If you would like to join us, you do not have to be a member of the MU, everyone is welcome, just let Janice or any member of the MU know.
