Cuthie's Choir

St Cuthbert’s has a proud choral history with a choir being present in some form since the establishment of the church in its current form. They form an integral part of the 10.30am Eucharist Service, leading the congregation in worship through choral settings of the Kyrie, Gloria, Sanctus, Benedictus and Agnus Dei, delivering the Psalm, communion motet or anthem, and supporting with congregational hymns.

Outside of the Sunday morning service, the choir also leads Choral Evensong once a month and supports other significant events of the church year such as Ash Wednesday, Midnight Mass and the always wonderful Nine Lessons and Carols.

Our choir brings together people of all ages and levels of experience, with our longestserving member having sung with us for over 60 years. It’s a wonderful reminder of how deeply music can root itself in our lives and faith.

We are always looking for new members to join us and experience the joy that collective singing in worship can bring. Singing in a church choir isn’t just spiritually uplifting — it’s genuinely good for your wellbeing. Group singing has been shown to release endorphins, reduce stress, and create a strong sense of belonging. Many people find that being part of a choir offers community, confidence, and a meaningful way to take part in the life of the church. Whether you used to sing years ago and feel ready to return, or you’ve always wanted to give it a try, you’ll find a warm welcome here.

We also have a growing Junior Choir for children aged 8 and upwards.
