About Us

The church of St Mary Magdalene is is part of the Benefice of Westcote Barton with Steeple Barton, Duns Tew and Sandford St Martin, and Over with Nether Worton, known as the Barton Benefice.

It is situated in the centre of the village of Duns Tew, not far from the Village Hall, and is a much respected part of community life.

The church is built of the honey-coloured Hornton stone. The font and porch date from 1200AD and the arcade of pillars with carved heads is 14th Century.  In the 19th century the interior was restored, and is almost entirely Victorian.  The lychgate at the entrance to the churchyard was built to commemorate the year 2000 - it also serves the community by being a bus shelter.

There are several services each Sunday in the Benefice – to find out what services are held when and where, please see our website.

The website also has details about our clergy, bell ringers, choir and special events.
