The Revd Stephen John STEWART
Associate Rector
Steve is married to Amanda, and they have three children (Shona, Tamsin, now with the Lord, and Hetty). Steve became a Christian at 17, not only rejoicing in my salvation but, over the years, by God's grace, having my faith ever more strengthened by the overwhelming weight of forensic evidence that Jesus of Nazareth is indeed the Lord and the Christ. Prior to receiving a dog collar, Steve trained as an engineer, had careers in finance training, procurement and IT. During this time, Steve also led church youth groups, camps, holiday clubs and the church worship band, among many other ministries. Following his training at Oak Hill Theological College, Steve had a great curacy in Norwich, and has served in Cove since 2004, first as a Team Vicar and since 2019 as Associate Rector. Steve has a passion for Bible teaching and preaching to mature all in Christ, and is reading for a PhD looking at The Role of the Law of Moses in the Fourth Gospel. He enjoys great company and food, playing and listening to music, techy stuff and a good laugh. Steve has responsibility for pastoral care across the parish and shaping and investing in the pastoral care team. Steve also invests in the preaching team and emerging preachers, overseeing ministry to the third age and you can glean some of his theological insight from deeper teaching series. He is also chaplain to the mayor.
