HOPE 26 is a Christian social action initiative, overseen by Martham Community Church, which looks to provide support to individuals and households facing financial, social, and spiritual hardship.HOPE 26 may provide information, signposting, and aid, with the aim of addressing a range of social/welfare needs. This may include the provision of household goods or store vouchers. Typically, those in receipt of help from HOPE 26, will primarily be residents of the northern villages within the Borough of Great Yarmouth.Referrals to HOPE 26 can be made via a range of community organisations, including, but not restricted to:• schools and nurseries• NHS bodies• Children’s and Adult’s Social Services• criminal justice agencies• Dial, Citizens Advice Bureau and other social/welfare bodies• Churches• Domestic Abuse agencies• Housing and homelessness agencies• Food banks, community larders etc• LibrariesWe will also consider self-referrals.Check out https://hope26.org.uk/ for more info.All referrals should be made by fully completing HOPE 26’s referral form. Congratulations to Roy Burrows who has recently been awarded the Bishop’s Certificate in Christian Learning, run by the Diocese of Norwich. Roy is an Authorised Worship Assistant (AWA) based in Winterton-on-Sea and we are all grateful to him for his commitment and hard work in this project which took a year of study to complete. We will all benefit from his increased knowledge through his AWA work in Winterton and other Flegg Churches. Pictured is Roy with the Rt Revd Graham Usher, Bishop of Norwich, and course director Dr Jane McLarty at the graduation service held at Norwich Cathedral.The Bishop’s Certificate in Christian Learning aims to give people the opportunity to learn more about the Christian faith or to go deeper in their own spiritual journey. A mix of in-person and weekly Zoom study sessions, it is open to all with an annual entry in September – more information can be found in the link here.
