About Us
St Gabriel's Church is a Eucharistically based church in the modern Catholic tradition of the Church of England.
We are only 3 miles from the 2012 Olympic Site in Stratford and on the edge of the Ancient Wanstead Park part of Epping Forest -and the open playing fields of wanstead flats -Why not visit us if in the area.
We Celebrated our 100th Anniversary of the building of our present Church building in 2014 although St Gabriel's folk worshipped in the "tin church" from 1904!
Our open church policy allows visitors to attend between 10 and 12 each weekday morning, giving opportunity for quiet prayer and reflection, or a friendly chat and coffee with our church sitters. We also open at 9am on Mondays for Mums and youngsters to chat and play safely over a hot drink after the school run. Also Thursday mornings from 10am we encourage our senior parishioners to pop in for Chat and Drink too
Morning prayer is normally at 8.00am and Evening Prayer at 5pm each Mon to Thursday in the Lady Chapel
Sunday Services said communion at 8.30am and Family Communion at 10 am .
Wednesday Said Communion at 11am.
St Gabriel's offers a wide range of social activities, a creche for Sunday service and an increasingly popular Sunday school.
Our growing congregation is very welcoming and inclusive, representing the diverse community of the Aldersbrook parish. Inside the church you will find a peaceful and comfortable environment. We have a loop system for the hard of hearing and a children's play corner in the church.
We have Scouts, Cubs, Beavers, and Guides weekly, and an "Art and knit and Natter Club" each Tuesday afternoon 2 till 4pm .
Fair Trade coffee and tea is served in the church hall after Sunday service. This offers the chance for old and new congregation members to meet socially.
Our adjacent Parish Hall is used daily by a play group and there is Badminton, Pilates, Zumba, Karate and Dance classes, indoor football training for youngsters etc please visit our new web site for full details
We now have new floor and heating , along with new toilets and kitchen facilities an plan to open at 9 am each Monday for coffee and prayers ,
