About Us

CHINGFORD PARISH CHURCH

WELCOME

Welcome to those who are single, married, divorced, widowed, gay, confused, filthy rich, comfortable, or dirt poor.  Welcome if you are North Chingford, South Chingford, not Chingford, or just passing by.  Welcome if you can sing like Pavarotti or can’t sing a note.  Welcome if you’re ‘just browsing,’ just woke up, or just got out of prison. Welcome if you’re more Christian than the Archbishop of Canterbury, or haven’t been in church since little Jack’s christening.  Welcome if you are still in recovery or still addicted. Welcome if you’re having problems or you’re down in the dumps or if you don’t like ‘organised religion’, if you blew all your money on the horses, if you work too hard, don’t work, don’t know anything about ‘church’ or are only here because grandma is in town and she wanted to go to church.  Welcome if you could use a prayer right now, if you had religion shoved down your throat as a child or if you’ve lived here all your life just never been in.  Welcome seekers and doubters, saints and sinners, regulars, visitors, friends and strangers.

Chingford Parish Church, dedicated to Ss Peter and Paul, is a large friendly and welcoming church at the heart of the community.  The parish is in catholic tradition of the Church of England though a range of traiditions are provided for.  There is lots going on for all ages,

Our Sunday morning worship is centred on the Parish Eucharist, with music led by one of our choirs, and with modern catholic ritual.  There is provision for school age children at the Sunday Club and for pre-school children in Chingford Cherubs.  In the evening during term time Choral Evensong is led by the choir.  On high days and holy days we celebrate with incense.

We have an excellent choral tradition with several choirs, all of which regularly sing in cathedrals throughout the United Kingdom and have undertaken singing tours in Europe and the USA.

The Daily Offices are said or sung each day and midweek Eucharists are held on Thursday and Saturday, with a further Eucharist on Wednesdays at the Old Church, (All Saints).  Please see our webasite for up to date information.

The Parish Church is known locally as 'The Church on the Green' and along with All Saints, Chingford Mount, known locally as 'The Old Church' forms the Parish of Chingford.

If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services."
