On 19th July we have the 'Pilgrimage of Song'. This is a a wonderful opportunity for anyone who enjoys singing to join in or just come along to listen to the music. You don't have to walk if that's challenging. It should be a lot of fun and a chance to meet new people.

A walk of around six miles, from Feering (near Kelvedon) to Tiptree, singing a short service at each church along the way, and ending with a hot meal.

WORKSHOP: The day begins with a workshop in which we learn the music to be sung at churches on our route. There will be a variety of music to suit varying abilities, including both experienced choral singers and those who just enjoy singing the tune.

WALK and SERVICES: After an initial service at All Saints, Feering, we walk to St Mary's, Kelvedon, then on via All Saints, Inworth to St Luke's, Tiptree.

WHO IS LEADING: The event will be directed by Richard Hubbard (Artistic Director of Cantus Firmus).

MEAL: After the final service there will be fish and chips in the church hall at St Luke's, Tiptree..

St Michael & All Angels, Copford

Ranked in the ‘Top 100’ by Simon Jenkins in his book “England’s Thousand Best Churches”.  and described by Nikolaus Pevsner as “the most remarkable Norman parish church in the county”, we warmly welcome you to our Church.

What is it that makes St. Michael & All Angels church, Copford, so special? It is interesting architecturally and has a pretty woodland setting, on the edge of our small village, beside the cricket pitch. However, the remarkable Norman wall paintings are the real attraction, described by Simon Jenkins as “amongst the best in England”. Only five minutes off the A12 just south of Colchester, they are certainly worth a detour if you are visiting East Anglia.

The Church is open for private prayer every day, from 9am and either dusk or 5.30pm, whichever is earlier.

On this page you will find information  about our services, how to contact the vicar about weddings, baptisms or funerals and the village community events like the monthly coffee mornings.
