This unique venue of St Mary Magdalene at the eastern edge of Havering offers a warm welcome between 10.00 and 16.00 to discover its beauty, tranquillity and long history of the changes in rural living on the boarders of our capital city. As a place of worship since before 1075AD, the site reflects the traditions and architectural changes since St Cedd baptised pilgrims on their long journey to Canterbury in the well dedicated to him. Wonder at the stunning gallery of monuments to the Poyntz family who had a strong link to William Tyndale. The botanist, William Coys from Stubbers, is also commemorated here. During your visit you can experience the long tradition of campanology with the bell-ringing team, try handbell ringing with the village handbell ringers and enjoy the long tradition of organ music and maybe choose your own favourite hymn. The church and its hall is hidden in a village of scattered listed buildings that tell the story of rural life and its changes through the centuries.
