St Mary's Church Saffron Walden

St Mary's is the Anglican parish church in the historic market town of Saffron Walden in north west Essex. Committed to the welcome and safeguarding of all, we are a community of all ages and backgrounds who worship God in a wide range of services. Our mission is to share God's love and to invite everyone to follow Jesus Christ with us. Ours is a beautiful church where the Christian faith has been celebrated for over 800 years, and which has a strong musical tradition and a large robed choir. We are one of the 12 churches within the Saffron Walden and Villages Team Ministry.

Our church is open every day of the year from around 10am until about 4pm.

Bellringers - Heritage Open Day - Saturday

As part of the Heritage Open Days national events, the bell ringers will be celebrating the art of church bell ringing at St Mary's, and the church will be offering refreshments and tours. There will be a travelling mini-ring in the churchyard, open to the public on Saturday 19th September from 10:00 am – 12:30 pm and 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and Sunday 20th from 14:00 – 16:00. Members of the congregation will have a special opportunity to try out the mini ring and explore the tower after morning service on Sunday.
