About Us

Anglican and Baptist together - one welcoming church family.

St Andrew’s has always been a church shaped by partnership. In 1984, St Andrew’s Parish Church and Higham Hill Baptist Church chose to join their ministries, forming a Local Ecumenical Partnership that brought two traditions into one shared life. What began as a practical collaboration soon grew into a joyful expression of unity - a community discovering how much richer faith becomes when we learn from one another.

Over the years, our congregation has become a blend of backgrounds, traditions, and experiences. Anglican, Baptist, Roman Catholic, Methodist, Salvationist, Presbyterian, and those who simply call themselves “church members” all worship together as one family. We celebrate the diversity of our stories while holding fast to the belief that Christ calls us into unity, not division.

Our worship reflects this shared identity. Some Sundays feel more Anglican, others more Baptist, and sometimes we simply worship in a way that is uniquely St Andrew’s. We keep an open table, welcoming all who seek Christ including children to share in communion. What matters most is not the label we bring, but the openness of our hearts.

Through decades of change, St Andrew’s has remained a place of welcome, curiosity, and shared faith. We are still discovering what it means to be an ecumenical church, and we embrace that journey with joy. Our story is one of unity, hospitality, and hope and we’re grateful for everyone who becomes part of it.
