Men's Breakfast - Fellowship in the Park

Men’s Fellowship breakfast takes place on a monthly basis (3rd Saturday in the month).

It is held at Memorial Park Café, Wickford Memorial Park from 9.00am and is a time for food, friendship, conversation and laughter.

Please come and join us for fellowship in the park. Please let Steve Talbot or Revd Jonathan if you plan to come so we can give them an idea of numbers.

A chance to meet at St Andrew’s weekly – bring along knitting, sewing, crafts of any kind and spend a couple of hours in good company. No particular skills required, you are welcome whether you have nimble fingers or butterfingers. And if you don’t have a project of your own to bring, there are always blanket squares to be sewn up, or the chance just to sit and chat. Meetings, open to anyone from our three churches and our local community, are held Tuesdays in St Andrew’s Centre, 2 – 4 pm: no charge, and refreshments provided.

The Church gathers primarily for worship, to celebrate all that God is and all that God has done, to be drawn into the life of the Trinity: the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We offer God songs and words of praise in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. We attend to God’s words in Scripture. We gather around the table of the Lord in the Holy Communion. We offer prayers for our own needs and the needs of the world. When we do this we join our prayers – thin and weak as they often are – with the great hymn of praise of the Church in both earth and heaven, in time and in eternity.

The Eucharist or Holy Communion is celebrated by the whole people of God gathered for worship. The ministry of the members of the congregation is expressed through their active participation together in the words and actions of the service, but also by some of them reading the Scripture passages, leading the prayers of intercession, and, if authorized, assisting with the distribution of communion.

Jonathan Evens and Timothy Harrold will share a selection of poetry and prose from their own collections.

Jonathan Evens is a creative writer whose poems and stories have been published by Amethyst Review, International Times and Stride Magazine.

Timothy Harrold is a poet who creates images of profound challenge and change, of pause and process, of chrysalis and
catalyst. His most recent publication is Verses Versus Viruses.

Michael Horner & Isobel Gathercole in concert

As a versatile musician, Michael Horner performs regularly across a wide variety of styles across the musical spectrum and has performed at many of the UK’s top venues, such as Ronnie Scott’s, Pizza Express, Barbican and many others. He has shared the stage with many of the UK’s top jazz musicians. However, Michael’s true musical home is performing repertoire from the Great American Songbook and has become a singer’s choice of pianist in London in smaller ensembles. Michael is also an avid composer, writing a wide variety of repertoire from sacred and secular vocal music to funk!

Isobel Gathercole is a jazz singer based in London. She trained in jazz vocals at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and has been performing at many of London's top jazz venues since arriving on the scene in 2014; including Ronnie Scott's, the Vortex and the Spice of Life. Isobel has had the opportunity to sing with ensembles of all shapes and sizes from her vocal/guitar duo to playing with a full sized studio orchestra in a tribute to the work of Jeremy Lubbock alongside fellow soloists Lianne Carroll, Joe Stilgoe and Tommy Blaize. She has also explored big band singing through her work as a vocalist with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, in addition to small group work with her own quartet.

Classical crossover singer, Eva Romanakova, and Rachel Arden, pianist and singer-songwriter, perform together in concert for the first time. Much loved soprano Eva specialises in arias and classical music while Rachel performs her own evocative and atmospheric compositions.
