About Us

We are Witham's parish church: Anglican, liberal and inclusive - and growing.

We worship in a large Mediæval church building (circa1336). Sunday morning service is Common Worship Holy Communion in modern Language, with worship supported by a choir. On the First Sunday of each month this service is an intentionally All-Age communion service, where we move the altar to the front of the mediæval Rood Screen.

On Sunday evening we have Sung Evensong (BCP), one of the few parish churches in this part of Essex who do this. On the first Sunday of each month we have a service of Choral Evensong, with a more complex musical setting . There is also a special evening service on Advent Sunday (The Advent Procession) and on a Sunday leading up to Christmas a sumptuous Service of Carols by Candlelight.

During Holy Week there are also services every day (apart from Holy Saturday).

Midweek Communion is on Thursday at 10am and is Book of Common Prayer

Services for other Church Festivals (Epiphany, Candlemas, Ash Wednesday, Ascension) are shared between the Churches of the benefice.
