We follow the tradition of our church choir singing sacred music for Holy Week on Palm Sunday evening. This year we turn to Stainer's Crucifixion. Composed in 1887 by John Stainer for use by Parish Choirs in an act of worship, there are choral pieces, bass and baritone solos and five hymns (which the congregation sings, and which includes All for Jesus, still regularly sung today. ) This Victorian Oratorio tells the story of Jesus' Passion (ie his death) and its significance for our salvation.
