Compline has been called the church's goodnight kiss: a calm and prayerful service to end the day. Its a lovely service. The form of service we will be using tonight is from the Anglican Church in New Zealand: poetic, intentional, inclusive and holy. We gather in the Choir Stalls (beyond the Mediæval Rood Screen.) This is a said service with hymns, and a reflection from one of our authorised Lay Preachers, David Martin.

Our parish of Witham: St Nicolas is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm.
We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). Our Diocese of Chelmsford’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO Jackie Martin or our Clergy Safeguarding Lead Rev Howard Schnaar [email protected] or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor Amanda Knight 01245 29 44 57 [email protected] .
If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services."
