Witham
Chelmsford, CM8 2JS, United Kingdom
We remember Jesus death together through hymns, psalm, readings and prayer. The central focus is a large wooden Cross set against the High Altar. There is an opportunity to venerate the cross within the service. Some kiss the cross itself, most lay a pebble at its foot. All who wish may receive holy communion (reserved from the Maundy Thursday service and having been a focus for reflection at The Watch)
We meet in the Choir Stalls (beyond the Mediæval Rood Screen.)
The Good Friday Liturgy
3 Apr 2026, noon for 1 hour, 15 mins

Our parish of Witham: St Nicolas is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm.
We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). Our Diocese of Chelmsford’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO Jackie Martin or our Clergy Safeguarding Lead Rev Howard Schnaar [email protected] or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor Amanda Knight 01245 29 44 57 [email protected] .
If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services."
