This mellow red-brick church with its characteristic crow-stepped gables and straight-headed windows is believed to have been built in 1563, five years after the accession of Elizabeth I.
The church stands just above the village of Woodham Walter and is of Elizabethan red brick. It is believed to be the first purpose-built Church of England church.
The church is open during day-light hours, and is regularly visited; there is a small selection of gifts to purchase and refresnment making facilities are provided. We have recently completed a project to provide a disabled toilet.
Very much in the central tradition of the Church of England, we meet each Sunday morning at 9.30am, extend a warm welcome to visitors and share refreshments after the service.
