Music and Worship

We have a peal of six bells which are rung weekly before Sunday morning services - details on our website.

We regularly hold concerts in our church. Please see the "Events" page on our website.

We have a large, well-maintained three-manual pipe organ which was rebuilt a little over ten years ago. There have been a number of recitals in recent years, the last of which was given by Nigel Ogden who accompanied a showing of the 1925 black and white film, "Phantom of the Opera".

Choral Evensong (usually on the First Sunday of the month) is the only regular service taken from the 1662 Book of Common Prayer.

Our choir normally numbers around twelve to fifteen singers who meet regularly on Friday evenings for practice and sing at the weekly Communion Services as well as singing at the major Festivals and at a monthly Choral Evensong. Our Organist and Director of Music is Chris Brown who may be contacted at [email protected]

'Psalm 98' is our worship band and it leads the music at our 'First Sunday Praise' at 10 o'clock on the first Sunday of the month. The regular instrumentalists include recorder, flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, violin, electric bass, drums and keyboard. The group is run by Philip Astle.

Groups, Courses and Activities

The Friday Knights meet weekly at 5.30 pm in the church hall. This group is for teenagers and is involved in the Communion Service on the fifth Sunday of the month. It regularly joins with the youth group at the local Methodist Church. Contact the leader on 07799 667846 for further details.

We have a weekly House Group which meets on Wednesday evenings at 7.30 pm. Further details can be found on our website calendar.

We hold a lively weekly toddlers group, "Holy Chaos", which meets on a Wednesday morning for an hour beginning at 9.30 am.
