About Us

The parish of Portsdown and Purbrook brings together two churches (St John's Purbrook and Christ Church Portsdown) who together serve the communities of Purbrook, Widley, Berewood and North Cosham. The parish was formed in 2023, building on the shared lives of our churches, which includes numerous groups and activities supporting the needs of people in our locality.

St John's is a friendly, welcoming, holds traditional 'Middle of the Road' style Service in a relaxed setting in a small Victorian Church.  Adjacent to the church we have a well-fitted Church Hall which is available for rent, and which hosts our post-service coffees and teas.

The Parish Office is based at St John's and is currently open Wednesday - Friday 9am - 2pm
