The Parish of Weston with Denton boasts two churches. This rural parish can be found between the towns of Otley and Ilkley and is comprised of three distinct villages: Weston, Askwith and Denton. Denton is characterised by scattered dwellings and farms.
All are welcome to worship at our churches; we are a friendly, young at heart community, aged between 0-100. There is excellent cooperation between the two churches, with the congregations attending each other’s services which alternate between the two sites. The parish and the local communities are closely linked through fundraising and community events such as the Harvest Supper. There is a Christmas Walk with carols and readings, Mary and Joseph in costume, a baby and a real donkey. As there is no room at the Inn, it finishes at a stable! A Christmas Fair at St Helen’s, the Snowdrop Festival in February and the Easter Monday walk and egg hunt are always popular. Open gardens and the Parish Barbecue are held on alternate years and are a tremendous local team effort. Teas and Tours at Weston Hall provide an interesting and busy day, coupled with the Heritage Open Day at both churches in September.
