The Parish of Weston with Denton boasts two churches. This rural parish can be found between the towns of Otley and Ilkley and is comprised of three distinct villages: Weston, Askwith and Denton. Denton is characterised by scattered dwellings and farms, and many couples are attracted to the church here to exchange vows and celebrate their marriage at the Grade 1 listed Denton Hall, now a popular luxury wedding venue. All are welcome to worship at our churches; we are a friendly, young at heart community, aged between 0-100. There is excellent cooperation between the churches, with the congregations attending each other’s services. The services alternate between the two sites. Wedding couples and their families regularly increase the numbers at Denton where the church enjoys sharing this meaningful occasion with them as they enter into a union before God. The parish and the local communities are closely linked through fundraising and community events such as the Harvest, Beetle Drive and Dominos Suppers. There is a Christmas Walk with carols and readings, Mary and Joseph in costume, a real donkey, and as there is no room at the Inn, it finishes at a stable! The Easter Monday walk and egg hunt is always popular. Open gardens are held biennially and are a tremendous local team effort. Teas and Tours at Weston Hall provide an interesting and busy day. There has often been a Parish Tombola at Askwith Show. Find our more by visiting our website - https://washburnmidwharfebenefice.org.uk/weston-with-denton/
