aster Eve – The Service of Light proclaims the resurrection of Christ from the dead in word and action, in silence and sound. We begin by gathering around the Easter fire where the Easter Candle will be lit. This symbolizes Christ, the light of the world. The light is then carried through the church and progressively passed to the whole congregation.

On the first Easter day, Jesus’ disciples found his tomb was empty, then met and ate with the risen Jesus. Our celebrations continue with the principle service celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. The service includes readings, Holy Communion, the singing of Easter hymns, and a sermon.

The walk begins at Holy Ascension Church at 8.30am. We will leave St Alkelda's Church at 9.am and will then walk to Holy Trinity Church at Rathmell. We will be stopping along the way for Bible readings and prayers. We will arrive at Rathmell to be greeted by those who went directly to the church for the service. Lunch will be available at the Reading Room after the service for those wishing to stay.
