Dear Friends,
This mailing comes a little early to draw your attention to the altered service pattern today (Thursday) – there is no 11.00 am Low Mass, and instead everyone is welcome to attend Fr Godfrey’s Requiem Mass at 1.00 pm, and to stay for refreshments afterwards. There will also not be a celebration of the Contemplative Mass at 7.00 pm as previously advertised.
We have a very special weekend coming up, as we prepare for Fr Marc’s ordination in Bradford Cathedral on Saturday at 3.00 pm, and his first celebration of the Mass on Sunday at 4.00 pm. Members of the congregation are welcome to attend the ordination in Bradford, but we are particularly encouraging everyone to come together for the Mass on Sunday afternoon. Please pray for him as he goes on retreat.
That means that our service pattern is different this Sunday. There will be a Low Mass at 8.00 am as usual, but the 4.00 pm High Mass will be our principal celebration of the day. (I will be around at 10.45 am and plan to celebrate a Low Mass at that time for any who might’ve missed these notices.)
This also means that there is no Choral Evensong this Sunday.
I’m very pleased to announce details of our Patronal Festival celebrations in the notice below. Please make every effort to join us on Sunday 19 July as we unveil a new icon of St Margaret, to be blessed by Fr David Hope, who will also preach for us; and the artist will give an illustrated talk in the afternoon before Evensong. It will be a splendid occasion.
If you haven’t already completed a data form, please do so when next in church (or we can send you an electronic one). There is more information in the notice below.
With my prayers and best wishes,
Fr Alex
