Dear Friends
This weekend we celebrate the 147th anniversary of the dedication of our beautiful church building. Please join us if you can for our celebrations. We have three Masses, at 8.00 am, 9.15 am (Family Mass) and 10.45 am, and the day concludes with Solemn Evensong and Benediction on the Eve of Holy Cross Day, with some wonderful music from the choir.
A cake sale takes place after 9.15 am and 10.45 am – please bring contributions of cakes if you can, or take some away with you afterwards.
Our Dedication Festival coincides with the national Heritage Open Days festival, which runs from 11 to 20 September. To join in with this, I’m offering two tours of the church on Saturdays 12 and 19 September, at 2.30 pm, looking at the glass and our beautiful furnishings, and the conservation work we’ve had done recently. All are welcome. There are also newly-printed booklets on various aspects of the building and our worship for people to take away, and of course our building will be open every day as usual for people to enjoy.
With my prayers and best wishes,
Fr Alex
