About Us

St John's is a friendly and welcoming community of ordinary Christians from all walks of life, seeking to live out the Christian life. Our services are likely to appeal to those seeking a relaxed modern worship style within Common Worship (a liturgical resource used within the Church of England).

We encourage everyone to explore and use their God-given gifts and talents. We described ourselves as an “open” worship place where all are welcome.

As a church we seek to serve our local community. Alongside our regular Sunday worship, we also enjoy exploring different ways of gathering and worshipping together.

Our building is fully accessible and we will do whatever we can to encourage the participation of people with disabilities.

The 57 and 57A bus routes between the city centre and Stocksbridge pass our church; as do the 35 - a local circular bus route, and the 23A - a circular link with Barnsley.
